I could not recommend this series more. I will never forget them. I am an avid reader since a 13 year old, am now in my 60's. Love my books. A great fan of great authors, like Leon Uris etc. I have not read a storyline in many many years that has so touched me. For many years I have been hooked on thrillers / suspense / mystery with an occasional drama or biography thrown in. After a particularly violent book, I decided to venture into the first of this series, Tucker's Way. I have now read the four books and cannot wait for the fifth in the series. I highly recommend this to all readers who love a good story. This is a remarkable family and with the author's great storytelling I feel like I really know these people. I so wish I could meet Tucker. If I could give all books more than 5 stars I would. A wonderful read. You will just love this family. Plenty in the story for all. Won't spoil it for anyone by giving any of the storyline away. You have to read it. The first book takes a while to adapt to the poor Tennessee speak but do pursue it. It is just wonderful. Many kudos to David Johnson and I will be browsing his website for sure.

What a powerful story of redemption for broken people! The depiction of God’s redeeming and amazing grace in this story in the lives of wounded people touched my heart. I’ve lived this myself and believe anyone reading this book/series will be challenged and possibly changed forever - it’s all about choices. Thank you, David Johnson.
I LOVED the first book in the series. This one is cheesy and annoying. The characters sound like pompous philosophers. Tucker, who can't read, can write. She misspells a few words, but has a perfect understanding of punctuation. It's just not believable.
I was in search of a book that would keep my attention. I had read several books lately that where ok but left me untouched or feeling I'd waisted time reading them. I wanted to read something with meaning and inspiration.
I came across the Tucker series and it was exactly what my heart and mind needed. It makes you fall in love with the characters and want to just hug them and take away all their pain. I tell ya Ive cried the ugly cry and celebrated with a few fist pumps. These books have even helped me search my own heart and given me things to think about as to how I can be a better person myself. It's a testimony of how finding God in any situation no matter how hard life can be is the answer to having peace! And that no matter what our family (no matter how screwed up they are) and Gods amazing grace is all we ever need.
I can't wait to read the last two books in this series but want to slow down because I know it will be the last ones😭Definitely will check out the authors other books after these! I've become a fan
The Tucker series appeals to me partly because it acknowledges God without apology. I do have to say that the number and severity of crises that assail Tucker and her grandchildren seem a bit unrealistic, but do result in maintained interest to continue reading. After I complete the last two books in this series, I am going to read more of David Johnson's books. I like his writing style, but am not a particularly good at analyzing it. I would recommend reading these books in order.
I usually wait till the end of a series to review them but I can't wait to say this is honestly one of the most beautifully written novels I have read; one that teaches much, entertains with every word and leaves me, its reader comforted and uplifted. (Michael Landon would give it & the preceding books a definite thumbs up! ). Thank you Mr. Johnson, for the many insights I have received through this sweet story.
This book captured my attention at the first page and held it until the last word of the book. To me, this story is about the strength that is found in the bonds of family love and how it and dogged determination can overcome the tallest of hurdles. Each of us needs a Tucker in our lives who loves us through all of our poor decisions and actions. Even in the greatest struggles, her love for those grandchildren, their love for her, and even their love for each other is always just beneath the surface. April's Rain lets us know that you can come home again and that forgiveness means everything.
From the first few pages, I was "all in." I am so surprised I had not heard of this gifted author before beginning this series. Each one is different but somehow tied in a pretty bow with all the other tales he has woven about this group.
To know Tucker is to love her and all of the fractured family members you will meet. She is a force to be reckoned with and I "binge read" four of Mr. Johnson's books in a row, staying up till after 100 a.m. most nights. I can only say if you have not read this man's work, treat yourself to a winning story line, deeply involved characters with killer dialog. I kept thinking, well, we couldn't possibly find any more people in this story-I was wrong. Just when you think you know the whole cast, here comes another colorful person; of course, no one is more colorful than Tucker. Gotta' go, starting a new David Johnson story tonight. Can't wait.
